Hello and welcome! I’m Monika, the creator behind Beach Babe Kitchen. My goal of this blog is to provide you with inspiration to live a happy healthy life through wholesome balanced meals and lots of sunshine!
Cooking and eating healthy has always been a passion of mine. I am constantly researching and learning more ways to cook cleanly, improve my diet, and overall lifestyle. My hope is to pass this information to you through the tips I share and the delicious recipes I’ve created along the way!
I love to cook with nutrient-rich real foods, nothing fake, processed, or refined. I do not stick to any particular diet, but you will find my recipes may fit a variety of dietary needs (Whole30, Paleo, Keto, Vegan, Lactose-Free, Gluten-Free, etc.) through options and suggestions for substitutes that will cater to your preference.
I do not follow any certain diet category, because I believe in consuming a wholesome and well rounded diet filled with nutrient rich foods. I like to buy fresh, organic, and local foods whenever I can.
I am a firm believer that you should be able to read and pronounce every ingredient on the label, and understand where each ingredient is coming from.
So why all the diet restrictions and substitutions in my cooking, you may ask? To be honest, I have no real reason, or any underlying health issues. It is just plain and simple that I just feel better when I cut out processed foods, add more vegetables, and lessen my intake of dairy and gluten products. When I eat wholesome ingredients my energy is up, my body feels good, I have less bloat, and I can actually see a difference in weight management.
When I am not cooking, learning, or writing about food I spend time enjoying the outdoors! I am blessed to live near beautiful California beaches that have so much to offer! Swimming, surfing, sun-bathing, hiking trails, boating, boardwalks and bike paths. Being outdoors and having sunshine in my life makes me a much happier person!
I also love to travel! It is a common passion so many share. Among seeing the sights and experiencing the surrounding culture, my favorite thing to do when traveling is (of course) eat my way through new cities! My husband and I love to make our way through a new town by what we like to call, “Tour De”, which is hopping from restaurant to restaurant ordering just an appetizer or small dish to share, and usually pairing it with a cocktail or drink. And then we move on to the next spot and do the same: a light snack and a drink, and so on. This way we are able to taste and experience as many different restaurants and variety of foods as possible!
